thankfulness [june 27]

Hiya!

Today, to start off, I am ever so thankful for my mom and my dad. I am so grateful for their raising me to love the Scriptures and to love my God and those around me. I couldn't ask for better parents. They're the best in the whole world. I still remember most of my ABC verses, and I am so excited to be sharing those with my Bobby and with Jess, the youngest of this family. I am so grateful for all the things they have taught me over the years.

I say this because some of the Welsh children and youth that I've come into contact with don't have that. They're so nasty to one another. They whine quite frequently. They don't respect their elders. They don't know what it means to follow verses like "A friend loves at all times" or "Be kind to one another" or "Children obey your parents" or "Do everything without arguing or complaining." Pray for me that I might show love for my God and love for them through my actions, that they might learn how to respect those around them and be a part of God's family.

But, yes, thank you mom. Thank you dad. You are absolutely the best dad and mom a daughter could ask for. I love you both so very, very, very, very much. (Does that mean I win, dad? hahaha.)

So! Onto the summary of the day!

Tomorrow, as I've been saying all week, is my talk on Peter for Kid's Club. Today (and tomorrow morning) are my planning days for that. Today I crocheted my beard, I finished my boat and my nets. Tomorrow I've gotta make Peter's robes. I am so excited. Pray that the Holy Spirit might be working in me! I'll also try to get Bobby to take some pictures so I'll have them for y'all to see. Pray also for those kids. As I've said before, they have really big respect issues and sometimes they just don't like to sit and listen. Especially for Molly and Charys.

Then we had Tea at Brian and Elizabeth's which is wonderful as always. We sat in the den and watched the Wimbledon. Which was all right. I'm not the biggest fan of Tennis, but Bobby was teaching me some so that was helpful!!

Then we had youth group which went amazingly, I think. We were supposed to have 22, but Ruth and James and Joe couldn't make it last minute. But we had 3 new kids come!!!! I am just so excited about how much that group has grown! The first week we had 13 and now we were supposed to have 22! AND this week they were even paying more attention than last week! Only one or two sat in the back away from everyone else, but one of them even answered a question (and he never, ever, ever says anything during the talks)! It was a good night. We didn't have any forced fun games plan which I don't think went as well as other weeks, but that's all right.

Thank you SO MUCH for your prayers in that group. It is growing, and I am so excited to see them interested in and actually engaged in the lessons. Please pray for the girls and I. Pete and Kath's daughter, Jess, is coming with us on Sunday to Pizza Hut for a girl's night dinner. I am really excited to get to know them, and I think they're all coming! Only a few of them said they may not be able to come, but it's just so good. God is good, and he is working!

But, seeing as our group is growing, please pray that God might send workers into this harvest field. I'll be leaving at the end of the summer, and they don't quite have the manpower to handle so many youth. Also be in prayer that we'll find a suitable venue to host that many kids. I want it to be someplace consistent that the kids will be able to come in and feel safe, sort of as a second home. But I don't think the other adults see that benefit just yet. However, I can only do so much. Perhaps I can have a chat with Peter and Claire about it. I'm not sure.

Also, during dinner, I went into the kitchen with some of the adults for just a few minutes. And this is what befell me.

Pete: "So. We've been thinking about interns."
Claire: "What, are they horrible?"
Kath: "Oh no no. We were thinking that Bobby and Becca need to come back for a year after they're married!"
By this time, I'm laughing.
Claire: "Well, they were looking for jobs!"
Kath: "Yeah! We can even find them somewhere to live!"
Pete: "Even on the estate." (The Estate is the Castle View neighborhood where the church is mostly focused on at this time.)
By this time, I'm so flabbergasted that I laugh, mutter something about "if only I had the money," grab some water, and head off to the table to be with the kids.

Mind you, I'm not opposed to coming back to Wales. It just completely caught me off guard. I felt like I was being ganged up on! hahaha. Definitely something my family would do. But it was such a big encouragement to me! I am so grateful for these people in my life and for their excitement about Bobby and I being here to do God's work.

Please be in prayer for Bobby and I. We are searching for jobs and trying to figure out what God will have us do in the next few months (less than 6 until our wedding day)! I have no idea if we'll be back here or in America. There are so many options, so many possible opportunities. So be in prayer for us as we figure out what would be best for us as a family. Pray also for this church that it might have more workers! They so need more workers to come into their harvest fields.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support. I appreciate you all, and I am so grateful for everything that you all have done.

Ta-ta!
