Hiya!
Today was simply brilliant. It was a lot of fun, although busy, and I am just so excited for the youth of Caerphilly. They are a lovely lot, and I am just excited that they're willing to trust and accept me! I am so excited for these relationships and friendships!
The day started out with another round of the G-SUS bus which went very well. The first class was a bit disruptive as over half the class went missing and ran in halfway through. However, the next class was so attentive! They were engaged and most were clearly listening as I wrapped up with the gospel at the end of the class. They were the first class I had that were enthralled with me as an American, which was incredibly fun, and a few nodded about coming to the event on Friday. Be praying that they will come and meet with us. I want those relationships to grow and that this week will be one of follow-up rather than just leaving them without any built friendships. There weren't as many Christian-oriented questions, but I'm just hoping that we boosted their curiosities enough for them to come.
Please be in prayer over that event. I haven't a clue what will happen, but this harvest is so plentiful in Wales! I am just so excited. Most are willing to hear and to listen even if they are not ready to accept. That was actually the focus of our prayer meeting which happened just after the bus.
We were praying about Matthew 9, I believe it is, when Jesus talks about how "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest that he would send out workers into his harvest field." I am just so excited about what is happening in Wales. Here, specifically in Caerphilly (The story may be different elsewhere) there are so many people that Gateway church touches throughout their different meetings. Probably 20 different families who have yet to dedicate their life to Christ but they are still willing to listen and talk about the issues at hand. What Claire pointed out, however, is that Gateway has no one to work the events. They're short-staffed and those who are willing to help are over-committed as it is.
So pray with us that the Lord of the harvest might send more workers into his harvest field. Alun was saying that back when missionaries first started coming to wales over 180 people would come from the American churches. Now? Now only 10 (maybe) are coming. This place needs to workers to go out and reap what God has already sown. Whether that be missionaries or new Christians to the faith, I don't know. But pray with us, please.
After the meeting I got to see my Bobby! We went down to Caerphilly and went to costa coffee. He got coffee and I got some tea along with muffins. After that we just walked around the town and did some shopping. He found a Guitar with my brother's name on it (John Hornby made it, apparently!), and he's contemplating getting it. I have no idea why, but that's my Bobby for you. He's so funny (:
Then it was Youth Group time! It was Safari Dinner night, so we went to three different houses for the appetizers, main course, and dessert. It was so much fun. The kids had a blast, and even though I had to tell a few off for being disruptive they didn't just shun me as "one of the adults!" It was so exciting. I HATE putting my foot down, but I cannot stand it when they're disrespectful and disruptive. But, what can you expect? These kids haven't been trained, I don't think. Well, some of them at least. Anyway, they still loved on me, and I am SO excited to be able to become friends with them. Below are some pictures of the night. Pray that I will continue to be one who is able to be a friend but still an authority figure and respected by them. These children don't know what it means to be respectful, but I know that God can work in them! Also be praying for me and the girls. They really want to take me out on a girl night, but again I don't know if we have the man power to do so. I haven't a clue of who could even take us all out, so I'm still trying to figure that bit out. Be in prayer for that as I would absolutely love to take the girls out for a girls' night.
Please be in prayer specifically for one of the boys in my youth group. His family is not at all Christian, and he's beginning to get the answers. However, it hasn't really sparked a joy for his life. He cares a lot about his image and reputation, and I'm not sure he's too keen on the label of a Christian. He also has a hard time with authority. Pray that God might do a work in him. He could be such a great leader, and I am only hoping that the truth might set him free.
Thank you for your prayers and support. I appreciate each and every one of you.
